Sekolah Rakyat Open Houses Highlight Free Education Wins in Kebumen and Kediri
On 20 June 2026, two Sekolah Rakyat (People’s Schools) in Central Java held open‑house events to showcase their free‑of‑charge education model for children from low‑income families. In Kebumen, Regent Lilis Nuryani attended the ceremony at the integrated school (SRT 44), where officials described the programme’s provision of uniforms, meals, boarding, laptops and supplies, and highlighted recent student achievements such as district‑level competition medals and a national writing award.
In Kediri, Regent Hanindhito Himawan Pramana opened SRMA 24, where hundreds of guests saw performances in four languages, traditional dance, martial‑arts, batik and digital reading stations. The event underscored the presidentially‑backed Sekolah Rakyat initiative, aimed at breaking the cycle of poverty through education and character development. Both schools emphasized that economic hardship should not limit academic success, and the ministries involved pledged continued support and partnerships with universities and businesses.
