Selena Gomez sued for alleged fraud over Wondermind startup

Selena Gomez, her mother Mandy Teefey, and former business partner Daniella Pierson are facing a federal lawsuit in Delaware regarding their mental health startup, Wondermind Global.

Investors, including Wondermind SRS 44 LLC and Bespoke Wondermind LLC, allege they were defrauded of approximately $1.2 million. The plaintiffs claim the founders made false representations regarding the company’s financial health, infrastructure, and growth prospects. Specifically, the lawsuit alleges that Wondermind claimed a $95 million valuation and promised lucrative partnerships with firms like JPMorgan Chase and Fidelity that never materialized.

A central component of the complaint involves Gomez’s personal involvement. Investors argue they were misled by the promise that Gomez would take an active role as the head of marketing, leveraging her social media following of over 500 million. The lawsuit alleges she signed a contract obligating her to perform these duties but subsequently failed to fulfill them, an act described as an “abject dereliction of her duties.”

The plaintiffs state they only became aware of the company’s “state of utter disarray” following a September 2025 report by The Cut. The lawsuit seeks to recover the invested capital along with damages, legal fees, and costs.
