Selena Gomez faces fraud lawsuit over Wondermind startup
Selena Gomez, her mother Mandy Teefey, and former business partner Daniella Pierson are facing a federal lawsuit in Delaware regarding their mental health startup, Wondermind. Investors, represented by Wondermind SRS 44 LLC and Bespoke Wondermind SPV I LLC, allege they were defrauded of approximately $1.2 million in 2022.
The plaintiffs claim the defendants misrepresented the company’s infrastructure, leadership, and resources. Specifically, the suit alleges that promised developments, such as a groundbreaking mobile app and corporate partnerships with entities like JPMorgan and Fidelity, never materialized. Investors also claim Gomez failed to fulfill her contractual obligation to serve as the head of marketing using her social media influence.
Gomez’s attorney, Mathew S. Rosengart, has dismissed the allegations as “completely meritless, both factually and legally.” He stated that the legal team intends to file a motion to dismiss the claims. Former partner Daniella Pierson has also denied the allegations, stating she will present financial records to demonstrate transparency.
