Selena Gomez warns of permanent vocal changes due to vaping
Singer and actress Selena Gomez has revealed that years of nicotine vaping have permanently altered the sound of her voice. During an Instagram live session, the 34-year-old artist shared that she has since quit the habit, though she acknowledged the difficulty of overcoming nicotine addiction.
Gomez described the issue as internal throat inflammation. Medical experts note that vaping can cause changes in vocal tone and inflammation of the glottis and upper respiratory tract. This can result from chronic coughing, throat clearing, or chemical irritation from the compounds found in e-cigarettes.
While some irritative changes may improve after quitting, medical professionals emphasize that more long-term studies are needed to determine if such vocal modifications are permanent.
