Selena Gomez vocal health and nicotine vaping

Overview

Singer and actress Selena Gomez has disclosed that heavy nicotine vaping has caused permanent changes to her voice. In recent social media communications, Gomez described the issue as internal throat inflammation and stated, “I’m not gonna be able to change my voice. I vaped nicotine a lot.”

Gomez used her platform to warn followers about the difficulties of nicotine addiction, characterizing the habit as “so stupid” and “not worth it.” While she has since quit vaping, she noted that maintaining sobriety from nicotine remains a significant challenge.

Medical experts have noted that vaping can lead to inflammation of the glottis and upper respiratory tract, potentially resulting in changes to vocal tone through chemical irritation or chronic coughing. While some irritative effects may improve after cessation, medical professionals emphasize that further long-term studies are required to determine the permanence of such vocal modifications.
