Selçuk University promotes autonomous underwater vehicle careers to Turkish high‑school students

Selçuk University’s Science Communication Office organized a Science Café program at Fuat Sezgin High School Medeniyet Academy, reaching a large cohort of Turkish high‑school students. The event showcased autonomous underwater vehicle technologies, artificial‑intelligence‑driven systems and career opportunities in the defence sector.

Technology Faculty lecturer Dr. Hakan Terzioğlu explained the operating principles of the vehicles, AI applications and the importance of unmanned systems for the future of engineering, noting, “Su altı teknolojileri hâlâ keşfedilmeyi bekleyen çok büyük bir alan… geleceğin en önemli mühendislik alanlarından biri olacak.” He highlighted the university’s international competition successes as evidence of Turkey’s growing expertise in unmanned systems.

Students expressed enthusiasm for the field: “Gelecekte savunma sanayisinde görev almak istiyorum,” said one participant, while others voiced goals of developing autonomous tools for air, land and sea. The programme underscored the need for hands‑on experience at events such as TEKNOFEST and for representing Turkey on international platforms.
