Turkish university student outreach initiatives

In mid‑July 2026 Selçuk University hosted a Science Café at a high‑school, showcasing autonomous underwater vehicles, AI‑driven systems and defence‑sector career paths. Lecturers emphasized the growing importance of unmanned maritime technologies and encouraged students to pursue engineering and defence‑industry roles.

Later that month, Üsküdar University sent molecular‑biology students to Anamur’s Mediterranean beaches to assist a sea‑turtle protection program. Working with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and other research institutions, the students helped locate nests, install protective cages and record scientific data, gaining hands‑on field experience while contributing to conservation of endangered turtle species.

Together, the two events illustrate a broader trend among Turkish universities to provide practical, project‑based learning opportunities—ranging from high‑tech defence research to environmental stewardship—to both their own students and the wider community.
