The 53rd edition of the Semana de Lavalleja, a major cultural festival in Uruguay, has been rescheduled due to weather concerns. Following forecasts from the Uruguayan Institute of Meteorology (INUMET) regarding potential rain, strong winds, and hail, organizers suspended the initial Wednesday activities. The festival is now set to begin on Thursday, October 8.

The event includes a stage at Parque Rodó running from October 8 to October 12, and the traditional 'Noche de los Fogones' at Cerro Artigas on October 17 and 18. The celebrations will span the entire Lavalleja department, featuring music, gastronomy, and local traditions in various municipalities.

To ensure public safety, the Lavalleja Police Command has implemented a special security operation. This plan involves multiple police units, specialized groups, and a Mobile Command Center. Security measures include strict prohibitions on alcohol, glass bottles, weapons, sharp objects, and pyrotechnics within the event areas.
