Semana de Lavalleja festival in Uruguay

Overview

The 53rd edition of the Semana de Lavalleja festival in Uruguay faced an initial delay after organizers suspended Wednesday activities due to weather forecasts from the Uruguayan Institute of Meteorology (INUMET) predicting rain, hail, and strong winds. To manage public safety during the rescheduled event, the Lavalleja Police Command implemented a security operation prohibiting alcohol, glass, weapons, and pyrotechnics.

Despite recent rain and cool temperatures, the festival proceeded with musical performances at Parque Rodó. The program included various bands, though some scheduling changes occurred due to the health issues of the lead singer of the band Turf. Lavalleja Intendant Daniel Ximénez noted that the festival utilized 15 different stages to promote decentralization across the department, featuring local artists in 70% of the program.
