Semarang police arrest suspect in murder of missing girl found as remains

Police in Semarang have identified human remains found near the Jangli Toll Road as Mozza Axillia Gunarsa, a 19-year-old woman who had been missing since June 2025. The discovery follows the arrest of a 22-year-old man, identified as MPDA, who is suspected of killing the victim.

According to investigators from the Semarang Police, the suspect allegedly strangled the victim following an argument at a boarding house in the Sriwijaya area. The suspect then placed the body in a sack and discarded it on the slopes of the Jangli Toll Road. The victim was reported missing on June 28, 2025, three days after the suspected murder occurred.

MPDA was apprehended at his residence in Blora Regency without resistance. The investigation was aided by electronic devices connected to the victim's social media. While the victim's family has identified the remains through physical characteristics such as dental work and hair accessories, police are awaiting DNA results to provide scientific confirmation.
