Semarang murder investigation of missing woman
Overview
Police in Semarang have arrested a suspect in connection with the death of Mozza Axilla Gunarsa, a young woman who had been missing since June 2025. Human remains were discovered near the Jangli or Semarang-Solo Toll Road area in September 2026.
Initial reports identified the suspect as a 22-year-old man, MPDA, who allegedly strangled the victim following an argument at a boarding house. Investigators noted that the suspect used electronic devices connected to the victim’s social media to assist the investigation.
Subsequent details revealed that the victim and the suspect, identified as MDVS, had met via TikTok in May 2025. Investigators believe the murder was triggered by jealousy during a dispute in June 2025. The suspect allegedly suffocated the victim, bound her body, and disposed of it in a ravine. The victim’s family has met with the Central Java Governor to seek justice, and the suspect faces charges under the Indonesian Penal Code and child protection laws.
