Semperoper Dresden announces 2026/27 opera season

The Semperoper in Dresden has announced its repertoire for the 2026/27 opera season, which will feature a total of twenty-seven titles. The program includes eight new productions alongside nineteen returning works.

On the main historical stage, new productions will include Verdi’s ‘Un ballo in maschera’ directed by Angela Denoke and conducted by Daniele Gatti, Franz Lehár’s operetta ‘The Merry Widow’, Bohuslav Martinů’s ‘The Passion of Christ’, Paër’s ‘Leonora’, and Wagner’s ‘Rienzi’.

The Semper Zwei chamber stage will host three additional productions: Torsten Rasche’s ‘The Fabulous Years’, Jense Joneleita’s ‘Bad Luck, Marie!’, and Samuel Pendermayne’s ‘Subotnik’.
