The letter refutes those claims, noting that Collins voted against the One Big Beautiful Bill Act because of its Medicaid cuts and helped secure $190 million for rural hospitals and health centers in Maine, earning her a Congressional Medicaid Champion Award.

Collins also authored provisions in the Homeland Security funding bill that allocated $20 million for body‑worn cameras for ICE officers, $2 million for de‑escalation training, and a 17 percent increase for the agency’s independent inspector general. Those measures became law in April, and any delay in implementation was due to the government shutdown, not Collins’ actions.
