Sen. Susan Collins' Re‑election Campaign Fueled by Billionaire Donations
Nearly 100 billionaires and their spouses have contributed about $9.8 million to Sen. Susan Collins’ fundraising network since early 2025, accounting for roughly one‑third of all billionaire contributions to her race. The donations flow through the Pine Tree Results super PAC, which has spent $24 million on ads supporting Collins. Among the donors, New Balance owner Jim Davis gave $1 million directly to a pro‑Collins super PAC.
Collins is seeking a sixth Senate term in Maine, facing Democrat Graham Platner, a combat veteran and oyster farmer. She has maintained a careful distance from former President Donald Trump, a strategy that has helped her avoid the fate of other GOP senators who lost reelection after openly defying the former president. Democrats view the Maine seat as pivotal for flipping the Senate, which they need to gain control in November.
