Colombia government uncovers alleged corruption in SENA Córdoba
President Abelardo de la Espriella has denounced a suspected corruption network within the Córdoba regional branch of the National Learning Service (SENA) in Montería. A preliminary contractual review revealed several irregularities, including rigged bidding processes designed to benefit a specific group of contractors, lack of market studies, and the splitting of contracts to evade legal oversight.
Specific findings include a 933 million peso welfare contract where spoiled snacks were reportedly distributed to minors, and a 765 million peso contract involving incomplete deliveries and near-expiry medications despite full payments. Other irregularities involve airfare, food, and medical services for apprentices. A final report is expected this week, after which the case will be referred to the Attorney General's Office and oversight bodies to establish criminal, fiscal, and disciplinary responsibilities.
