Festival del Mar 2026 draws large crowds in Coatzacoalcos

The Festival del Mar 2026 in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, has seen significant success, attracting tens of thousands of visitors. On its opening day alone, the event drew over 25,000 attendees, with subsequent days recording 16,000 and 25,000 people respectively. Mayor Pedro Miguel Rosaldo García described the turnout as a reflection of the “true Coatzacoalcos,” noting that the festival aims to reactivate the local economy and strengthen social ties.

The festival features a diverse cultural program, including giant kite displays by the group Volarte, traditional wooden toy demonstrations, and workshops for creating pop-up cards and nature-themed art. Local artisans are also prominently featured, showcasing sustainable products made from water hyacinth and regional honey and mead. The event also highlights regional dance, with participation from the Instituto de Danza Ortuño from Agua Dulce.

Organizers and local officials, including Governor Rocío Nahle García, emphasized the festival's role in promoting Veracruz's maritime culture, preserving artisanal traditions, and providing a safe, family-oriented space for community interaction.
