Senator Abba Moro condemns beheading of health worker in Benue South, Nigeria
Senate Minority Leader Abba Moro announced that a public health worker, identified as Ojama (Ujema) Emi, was ambushed, killed and beheaded by armed assailants in the Ikobi area of Apa Local Government Area, Benue State. The attackers seized the victim’s severed head and fled along the Ikobi‑Ulegopa road.
Moro told the Senate that the incident exemplifies a sustained siege on communities across Benue South, blaming inadequately funded local security outfits and accusing the Benue State Government of indifference. He called for urgent action from state and federal authorities, the release of detained community defenders, and referred the matter to Senate security committees. Senate President Godswill Akpabio offered condolences and pledged committee engagement with security agencies.
