Brazilian judge orders Senator Alan Rick to remove Rio Branco campaign outdoors
On 16 June 2024, Electoral Judge Luciano Oliveira de Melo ordered Senator Alan Rick to dismantle a series of billboards installed in Rio Branco, Acre, within 24 hours, citing a breach of electoral law that prohibits pre‑campaign advertising. The ruling also set a daily fine of 10,000 reais and barred the placement of similar material while the case proceeds.
Rick responded that the billboards are intended to give transparency about the use of parliamentary amendments, stating they are informational rather than promotional. His office echoed this view, noting that the senator had not yet received formal notification of the decision and that legal steps will be taken.
On the same day, the Acrelândia City Council passed a Motion of Applause honoring Rick, during which he detailed almost 42 million reais allocated to the municipality for health facilities, water treatment, road paving, rural equipment, and a new preschool, underscoring his ongoing investment program in the region.
