Dominican Republic reports major provincial infrastructure investments

In the Dominican Republic, government officials and legislators are reporting significant public investments and infrastructure developments across various provinces. In San José de Ocoa, President Luis Abinader and Vice President Raquel Peña highlighted a public investment of RD$6,726 million, representing a 94% increase from the previous period. This funding has supported over 40 projects, including road improvements, water systems, and healthcare facilities. Officials noted that the province now has one of the lowest poverty levels in the southern region.

In Santiago Rodríguez, Senator Antonio Marte presented an accountability report for the 2025-2026 period, emphasizing the construction of several key roads and social projects, such as housing for families relocated from the Boca de los Ríos dam and hospital renovations. Similarly, in Peravia, Governor Ángela Yadira Báez reported that the province has received over RD$20 billion in public investment over the last six years, covering bridges, paving, and educational infrastructure.

On a national level, recent Latinobarómetro data indicates complex political sentiments in the Dominican Republic. While 47% of citizens support democracy, 69% expressed that they would not mind a non-democratic government if it successfully resolved the country's problems. Additionally, political analysis suggests the ruling PRM party maintains a leading position in voter intention for 2028.
