Senator Antonio Taveras urges land titling for Santo Domingo communities

Senator Antonio Taveras has called on President Luis Abinader to implement Senate Resolution No. 00766, which seeks to declare certain lands as being of public utility. The measure aims to provide legal security and land titles to thousands of families living in established communities within the Santo Domingo province.

The resolution, which was received by the Executive Branch's Legal Consultancy on November 11, 2025, covers several areas including Santa Lucía in Boca Chica, Los Coquitos de Mendoza, Brisas del Edén, Buenaventura, Ensanche Isabelita, Valiente, Los Humedales de Pantoja, Los Alcarrizos, La Grúa, Barrio Los Progreso, and Nueva Jerusalén.

Taveras emphasized that the proposal respects private property rights by ensuring due process and fair compensation to owners under Article 51 of the Constitution and Law 368-22. He proposed a compensation program funded through the General State Budget, allowing for annual payments to property owners over a ten-year period to facilitate the titling process.
