Dominican Republic land titling initiatives

Overview

The Dominican government has initiated land titling efforts through the National Titling Plan. In the Batey El Naranjo sector of the San Luis municipal district, the Technical Executing Unit for State Land Titling (UTECT) is working to provide approximately 800 property title certificates to over 3,200 people. This process, conducted in coordination with the State Sugar Council (CEA), includes land surveys and social censuses and is being provided to beneficiary families free of charge.

In a separate push for property regularization, Senator Antonio Taveras has urged President Luis Abinader to implement Senate Resolution No. 00766. This resolution seeks to declare various lands in the Santo Domingo province as being of public utility to provide legal security and titles to thousands of families in communities such as Santa Lucía, Los Alcarrizos, and Nueva Jerusalén. Taveras proposed a compensation program funded by the General State Budget to ensure due process and respect for private property rights during the titling process.
