Senator Enrique Inzunza to return to Mexican Senate after 113-day absence

Mexican Senator Enrique Inzunza Cázares has announced he will return to perform his legislative duties in person starting August 30. His return follows a 113-day absence from the Senate, during which he maintained that his parliamentary responsibilities were being managed by his technical team.

Inzunza is scheduled to participate in the Morena parliamentary group's plenary meeting before the formal start of the ordinary session period on September 1. His return follows similar movements by Sinaloa Governor Rubén Rocha Moya.

Reports indicate that Inzunza, a former Secretary General of Government for Sinaloa, faces an arrest warrant and an extradition request from the United States government. These legal actions stem from allegations by the U.S. Department of Justice regarding alleged collusion with the Sinaloa Cartel. During his period of physical absence, Inzunza reportedly continued to receive his official legislative salary.
