Senator Julieta Ramírez Padilla meets Kumiai community in Baja California to discuss indigenous rights

Senator Julieta Ramírez Padilla, on a statewide tour for the Fourth Transformation (4T) and national sovereignty, held a meeting with members of the Kumiai indigenous community in San Antonio Necua, Ensenada, Baja California. She emphasized that past governments excluded indigenous peoples and that the current administration is beginning to repay the historic debt owed to these communities. Ramírez Padilla thanked the Kumiai representatives for highlighting the importance of preserving their traditions and urged continued dialogue to promote social welfare and protect natural resources. She cited reforms under President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and President‑elect Claudia Sheinbaum, stating, “Desde el gobierno de Andrés Manuel López Obrador y ahora con la presidenta Claudia Sheinbaum, hemos ido avanzando con reformas y medidas que permiten ir saldando esa deuda de justicia social con los pueblos indígenas.”
