Senator Olga Sosa: Mexico Export Growth, Import Decline under USMCA

Senator Olga Patricia Sosa Ruiz said Mexico is importing less and exporting more, citing the confidence generated by President Claudia Sheinbaum's Plan Mexico. She noted that foreign direct investment and export volumes have risen, reflecting international market trust.

Sosa emphasized that the United States‑Mexico‑Canada Agreement (USMCA) remains fully in force for the next ten years, with a built‑in annual review that could lead to a 16‑year renewal if the three parties agree. The United States remains Mexico's main trading partner. She highlighted upcoming July 20 talks led by Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard and his U.S. counterpart to boost investor certainty and advance projects in sectors such as automotive, semiconductors, medical devices, e‑mobility, logistics and advanced manufacturing.
