Senator proposes municipal district status for Punta Cana, La Ceiba, and Bávaro

Senator Rafael Barón Duluc has submitted three separate legislative projects to elevate Punta Cana, La Ceiba, and Bávaro to the status of municipal districts.

Duluc stated that while he supports these communities achieving higher administrative categories, the process must be orderly. He emphasized that his primary priority remains the initiative to convert Verón–Punta Cana into a municipality, a project that has undergone over two years of work and is currently advancing through the National Congress.

The senator explained that the new proposals for Punta Cana, La Ceiba, and Bávaro were presented independently to allow for individual technical studies and legislative procedures without hindering the progress of the main municipalization project for Verón–Punta Cana.
