Senator Óscar Villamizar requests DEA probe into Verónica Alcocer

Colombian Senator Óscar Villamizar has formally requested that the DEA and the United States Embassy in Colombia investigate allegations against Verónica Alcocer. The request follows an interview by Eva Ferrer published by SEMANA, which contained several serious accusations.

According to the senator's letter, the allegations include purported trips to Venezuela in official aircraft used for drug trafficking, as well as a suspected payment of $2.5 million following a trip in January 2023. Additionally, the claims involve potential arms trafficking, money laundering, and efforts to conceal assets in Spain, including a real estate transaction valued at approximately three million euros.

Villamizar emphasized that the information could be relevant to international efforts against drug trafficking. The allegations have sparked significant national debate regarding institutional integrity and the potential for impunity among powerful figures in Colombia.
