Senators clash over alleged ‘ghost’ projects in Taguig

Senators Panfilo Lacson and Alan Peter Cayetano are engaged in a heated dispute regarding alleged infrastructure anomalies in Taguig City. Lacson claims his investigation has uncovered suspected ‘ghost’ slope protection and flood mitigation projects along the Taguig River, as well as illegal reclamation activities on the Taguig side of Laguna Lake.

The Office of the Ombudsman has confirmed it is investigating these allegations. The probe follows reports that Taguig City government personnel were arrested by the Special Action Force after allegedly attempting to prevent Ombudsman investigators from conducting their work.

Cayetano has dismissed the allegations as a ‘witch hunt’ and a ‘trial by publicity,’ likening Lacson’s gradual release of accusations to a ‘striptease’ without providing concrete evidence. He maintains that he is cooperating fully with the investigation and expects to be cleared of any wrongdoing.
