Senegal advances digital strategy and US municipal partnerships

Senegal is advancing its digital and international cooperation through new strategic partnerships and a national technological overhaul. The government’s ‘New Deal Technologique’ focuses on developing sovereign cloud infrastructure and artificial intelligence to improve public services, cybersecurity, and data governance. This national strategy, which includes 50 priority projects, is estimated to require approximately $2 billion between 2025 and 2034.

On a local level, four Senegalese municipalities—Dalifort-Foirail, Thiaroye Gare, Notto, and Gawane—have formalized twinning agreements with cities in Alabama, United States. Following a mission to Atlanta and Tuskegee, these partnerships aim to move beyond traditional protocol toward concrete economic and social projects. Key areas of cooperation include education, agriculture, digital transformation, and professional training, with an emphasis on technology transfer and the use of artificial intelligence to modernize local administration.
