Senegal: Columnist Mamadou Cissé detained in Nourah Ba affair
Columnist Mamadou Cissé has been taken into custody by Senegal’s Special Cybersecurity Division (DSC) following an interrogation related to the Nourah Ba affair. Cissé’s detention follows allegations he made regarding the incident, including claims that an undercover officer provoked Ba with insults and that she was prevented from using the restroom while in police custody.
Babacar Ba, coordinator of the Forum du Justiciable, has expressed moral support for Cissé and called for judicial leniency. Speaking from Bangkok, Babacar Ba noted that Cissé has no prior criminal record and suggested that his recent public stances against xenophobic discourse may have played a role in his involvement in this legal proceeding. The Forum du Justiciable is urging the public prosecutor to review the case with discernment and equity, considering Cissé’s background and intentions.
