Senegal customs seize 50 million CFA francs in illegal medicines
Customs officials in Nioro, Senegal, have seized illegal medicines valued at approximately 50 million CFA francs. The operation took place on August 14, 2026, in the commune of Ndiognick at Ségré Séko.
Agents intercepted a Citroën C-Crosser vehicle arriving from a neighboring country using a fraudulent Senegalese license plate. The seizure, which followed intelligence gathering and a pursuit along the Touba Saloum–Sinthiou Wanar axis, included analgesics, antibiotics, and injectable vitamins intended for illicit commercial distribution.
In a separate operation on August 12, the Nioro Customs Mobile Brigade also seized 16,600 packets of condoms. Three foreign women were detained during that incident, with authorities investigating potential links to human trafficking and pimping networks.
