Senegalese customs and contraband seizures

Overview

Senegalese authorities have conducted operations in the Nioro region to intercept illegal goods. On August 14, 2026, customs officials seized illegal medicines, including analgesics, antibiotics, and injectable vitamins, valued at approximately 50 million CFA francs. The seizure occurred in the commune of Ndiognick after agents intercepted a vehicle using a fraudulent Senegalese license plate.

In a separate incident on August 12, the Nioro Customs Mobile Brigade seized 16,600 packets of condoms. Three foreign women were detained during that operation, as authorities investigate possible connections to pimping and human trafficking networks.
