Senegal Customs Seize Record 970 kg of Cocaine

On 15 June 2026, Senegalese customs agents of the mobile brigade in Koumpentoum intercepted a truck near Ida Mouride on the Koumpentoum‑Koungheul axis and confiscated a record 970.6 kg of pure cocaine, packaged in 844 bricks. The shipment, hidden in a specially built compartment and accompanied by large quantities of “Madd”, originated from a neighboring country. Laboratory analysis confirmed the cocaine’s purity and the haul was valued at roughly 58.2 billion CFA francs.

The seizure is part of a broader fight against transnational organized crime. Customs Director General Babacar Mbaye, during a recent tour of the southeast customs region, emphasized strengthening personnel and equipment to protect the nation’s security. The operation demonstrates the intensified vigilance of Senegal’s customs service, and an investigation into the network behind the shipment remains ongoing.
