Senegal cybersecurity investigation targets influencers and businesspeople

The Special Cybersecurity Division (DSC) in Senegal is investigating Mame Diarra Thiam, known as ‘Diodio Glow Skin’, and Rokhaya Fall, known as ‘Rox la Chancelière’, following the technical exploitation of Fall’s mobile phone. The investigation involves allegations of criminal association, speech contrary to good morals, complicity in insults, extortion, money laundering, and provocation of a crime.

During interrogations, Thiam reportedly admitted to making payments to several influencers, including Adamo and Kaliphone, through Fall to address specific issues. Fall confirmed her role as an intermediary, stating she was frequently contacted by individuals seeking to manage their social media image on TikTok.

Legal proceedings have resulted in different measures for the two women: Fall has been placed under judicial supervision while serving a six-month firm sentence, and Thiam is set to be placed under strict electronic monitoring via a bracelet.

Investigators are also looking into potential involvement by several businesspeople, including one located abroad, regarding payments made to Fall in exchange for insults directed at specific individuals on TikTok. While Thiam was briefly hospitalized at the Polyclinique de Dakar, medical examinations by three doctors concluded there was no underlying pathology.
