Senegal Deputy Mayor Thérèse Faye Diouf Launches And Dekkal Yaakar Movement
Deputy mayor Thérèse Faye Diouf of Diarrère officially launched her new political and civic movement, And Dekkal Yaakar, at a ceremony in the Grand‑Yoff HLM district on Saturday. The event gathered local elected officials, former ministers, student groups, activists and supporters from across Senegal.
Faye Diouf outlined the movement’s focus on job creation for youth, economic empowerment for women, support for producers and entrepreneurs, and equitable development of all territories. She emphasized that And Dekkal Yaakar is meant to complement rather than oppose President Macky Sall’s agenda, promoting patriotism, solidarity, social justice, respect for institutions, dialogue, peace and national cohesion. The movement plans to set up structures in all 46 Senegalese departments and among the diaspora, creating forums for reflection, training, listening and action.
The launch signals an effort to mobilise grassroots support ahead of upcoming elections and to address long‑standing socio‑economic challenges in Senegal.
