Senegal: Babacar Ba calls for serenity in constitutional revision

Babacar Ba has issued an open letter to the President of the Republic and the President of the National Assembly, calling for serenity during the upcoming constitutional revision and legislative processes in Senegal.

Ba emphasizes that constitutional changes and the adoption of new laws are major steps that shape the country’s institutional architecture and social cohesion. He warns that legislation adopted under pressure or political tension risks losing legitimacy and weakening the rule of law.

To ensure a solid and consolidated text, Ba suggests a global constitutional revision that integrates observations from the Constitutional Council, proposals from Parliament, and presidential bills. He urges authorities to foster constructive dialogue based on transparency, democratic principles, and citizen engagement to serve the general interest.
