The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) announced on 3 July 2026 that it has lodged a criminal complaint for defamation with the prosecutor's office in Dakar. The filing responds to a widely circulated article that alleged FSF leaders attended gala parties, drank aged wine and were accompanied by “galante compagnie” during the FIFA World Cup 2026 hosted in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The federation, led by President Abdoulaye Fall and represented by lawyer Mohamed Seydou Diagne, rejects the accusations as false and describes the media coverage as a coordinated campaign intended to discredit the organisation. The complaint cites articles 255, 258, 260 and 262 of Senegal’s penal code and relevant press‑law provisions, seeking an exhaustive investigation and prosecution of the alleged authors and accomplices.

The FSF emphasised its respect for press freedom while urging journalists to adhere to factual verification and ethical standards, and it aims to restore its reputation among the Senegalese public, FIFA, CAF and its sponsors.
