Senegal hosts International Habitat, Housing and Construction Exhibition

The International Habitat, Housing and Construction Exhibition opened in Dakar, Senegal, focusing on the theme “Sovereign habitat: Sunu dekkuwaay”. The three-day event aims to foster partnerships and promote access to sustainable, decent housing through innovation, urban planning, and climate resilience.

Moussa Bala Fofana, Minister of Urban Planning, Territorial Communities and Regional Planning, highlighted the urgent need for strategic urban development to combat high rental costs, recurring floods, and building collapses. To address these issues, the State is implementing a requirement for approved projects to maintain a balance of 50% social and affordable housing alongside 50% free housing to ensure social solidarity and investor profitability.
