North African and West African trade exhibitions

Overview

In mid-October 2026, various international trade exhibitions were held in Algeria and Senegal focusing on infrastructure and energy. In Algiers, the Kahraba Expo 2026 showcased renewable energy and electricity solutions, with a specific emphasis on energy efficiency and managing consumption peaks through innovative technologies from startups.

Following this, major industry fairs were announced for the housing and construction sectors. In Dakar, Senegal, the SENHABITAT 2026 salon focused on sustainable housing access and urban development. Simultaneously, the 23rd Batiwest-2026 salon opened in Oran, Algeria, featuring international exhibitors and highlighting Zimbabwe as the guest of honor to facilitate investment in the real estate and building sectors.

During the SENHABITAT 2026 event in Dakar, held from October 22 to 24 under the theme ‘Sovereign Habitat: Sunu dekkuwaay’, officials addressed critical urban challenges. Moussa Bala Fofana, Minister of Urban Planning, Territorial Communities and Regional Planning, emphasized the need for strategic development to combat high rental costs, recurring floods, and building collapses. To promote social solidarity and investor profitability, the State is implementing a requirement for approved projects to maintain a balance of 50% social and affordable housing alongside 50% free housing.
