Senegal Infrastructure Minister updates major development projects

Senegal’s Minister of Infrastructure, Déthié Fall, has provided an update on the nation's ongoing construction and development projects. He confirmed that all current projects are proceeding, specifically noting that the Ngaye-Mékhé-Péssé road axis has reached a 15% execution rate following a 1.7 billion FCFA startup advance to the contractor.

In the health sector, the government plans to construct 100 health centers in three phases, alongside five hospitals. Educational infrastructure is also a priority, with 62 billion FCFA allocated for 2,500 classrooms, 300 mini-boreholes, and 600 hygiene and sanitary blocks.

Regarding transportation, discussions are underway with the Ministry of Finance to relaunch a 2,000-kilometer road program, including the Marsassoum-Bambaly and Bignona-Diouloulou axes. Additionally, a new overpass has been inaugurated in Diamniadio above the Regional Express Train (TER) to improve mobility and connectivity to the national road. This overpass, along with a new roundabout, is part of the infrastructure preparations for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games.
