Senegal Ministry Orders Football Federation to Halt Public Statements

On 14 July 2026, Senegal’s Ministry of Youth and Sports issued an order requiring the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) to stop all public communication about the World Cup. The ministry said the measure was needed to preserve national serenity and protect the country’s reputation after the team’s elimination in the round of 16 and a series of media controversies. It also announced a comprehensive review of the national team’s World Cup participation.

Separately, the Senegalese National Order of Physicians released a statement responding to remarks about the national team’s doctor. The order stressed that a physician can hold multiple specialty diplomas and warned that presenting a doctor solely by his original specialty can mislead the public and damage professional reputation. The statement quoted the order’s president: “Un médecin peut, au cours de sa carrière, être titulaire de plusieurs diplômes de spécialité…" and cautioned against unverified public statements that could harm a practitioner’s honor.
