Senegal monitors detention of Aminata Seck in the United States

The Senegalese government has announced it is closely monitoring the situation of Aminata Seck, a Senegalese national currently held by U.S. immigration services in the United States.

In a statement released on September 29, 2026, the Ministry of African Integration, Foreign Affairs and Senegalese Abroad confirmed that diplomatic and consular representations in the U.S. are actively engaging with relevant authorities. The ministry aims to track the progress of the case and ensure Seck’s health and detention conditions are being properly managed, while respecting U.S. legal procedures.

While the ministry expressed solidarity with those concerned about the case, it did not provide specific details regarding the circumstances that led to Seck’s detention.
