Senegal MP Guy Marius Sagna calls on PASTEF officials to prioritize performance and honour party’s fund‑reform pledge
Deputy Guy Marius Sagna urged members of the PASTEF party who now hold positions in the state and local authorities to demonstrate excellence in their duties rather than merely echoing slogans. He said, “Ce qui est attendu d’eux, ce n’est pas seulement d’être de bons députés, de bons directeurs généraux ou de bons maires, mais d’être les meilleurs,” emphasizing that their work should reflect the values of Ousmane Sonko and serve the “African sovereign revolution of Senegal.”
Sagna also reminded the public of a pledge made by party leader Ousmane Sonko on 8 November 2025, in which the party committed to abolish traditional political funds and replace them with specially‑designated funds overseen by a parliamentary sub‑commission. The proposal, included in President Bassirou Diomaye Faye’s programme, was to be enacted within the first three years of his mandate and subject to post‑implementation audits to ensure transparency and confidentiality.
These remarks come amid ongoing debate in Senegal over public‑fund management and the performance of officials linked to PASTEF.
