Senegal political tension rises amid regional tours and economic criticism
Political activity in Senegal is intensifying as both supporters and opposition leaders engage in strategic maneuvers. Hannibal Djim, a special advisor, is conducting an extensive tour across regions including Walo, Fouta, and Fouladou. During his travels, Djim met with 27 religious leaders in 21 localities to strengthen local ties and support the political movement Kiraay, which operates in favor of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
Simultaneously, the Alliance pour la République (APR), the party of former President Macky Sall, has issued a formal critique of the current administration. The APR's national executive secretariat has called upon President Faye and National Assembly President Ousmane Sonko to address the rising cost of living and declining purchasing power. The opposition party specifically criticized recent economic policies, citing widespread price increases, layoffs in various sectors, and the suspension of several construction projects as primary drivers of economic instability.
