Senegal President orders relaunch of Casamance development plan

President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has called for the evaluation and relaunch of the Diomaye Plan for Casamance (PDC) to accelerate regional development. During a Council of Ministers meeting on September 10, 2026, the President emphasized the strategic importance of the Casamance region—comprising Ziguinchor, Kolda, and Sédhiou—within the framework of the Senegal 2050 National Transformation Agenda.

The plan focuses on several key pillars, including increased funding for landmine clearance through the National Center for Anti-Mine Action in Senegal (CNAMS) to secure villages and agricultural sites. Additionally, the President directed efforts toward improving regional connectivity, strengthening social infrastructure, and ensuring the systematic installation of essential public services in border areas to boost economic and social activities.
