Senegal restructures presidential cabinet and prime minister's office

On 23 July, a presidential decree reorganised Senegal’s civil cabinet, creating a new Chief of Cabinet role that supports the minister‑director of the Presidency. The decree outlines the hierarchy of the cabinet, adds the chief position as the third protocol rank, and defines its duties in coordinating information flow and overseeing daily operations.

Following the departure of Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko in May 2026, Al Aminou Lô was appointed head of the government. A decree (n° 2025‑1431) redistributed state services, reinforced the prime minister’s cabinet, and transferred several structures – including the technical secretariat for local content, the Directorate of national civic service, and the Government Information Bureau (BIC‑Gouv) – to other ministries. These reforms aim to improve administrative coordination across the Presidency, the Prime Minister’s office, and various ministries.
