Senegal's ANACIM forecasts widespread rain and storms across multiple regions
The National Agency of Civil Aviation and Meteorology (ANACIM) issued a weather bulletin warning of intense rain and thunderstorms moving east‑to‑west across Senegal during the night. The system is expected to hit Tambacounda, Matam, Kaffrine and Kédougou first, with possible spill‑over into Kaolack, Nioro, Fatick, Diourbel, the south of Linguère and Kolda. Visibility will remain generally good and winds are forecast to be weak to moderate.
ANACIM also noted a heat surge, with temperatures potentially reaching 40 °C in parts of the centre and east of the country. The agency advises residents in affected areas to stay vigilant, avoid unnecessary travel during the storm and take precautions against exposure to lightning. No specific travel restrictions have been imposed.
