Senegal's MEFPT and Domitexka Saloum partner to revive textile industry

The Senegalese Ministry of Employment, Vocational Training and Technical Education (MEFPT) has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Domitexka Saloum to revitalize the national textile industry. The agreement, signed in Kahone within the Kaolack region, focuses on strengthening vocational training for key textile trades, including dyeing, industrial weaving, knitting, spinning, and industrial printing.

The initiative is supported by 60 million CFA francs in funding from the Technical and Vocational Training Financing Fund (3FPT). The program aims to align professional training with the actual needs of the local market to drive economic transformation and job creation.

Domitexka Saloum CEO Serigne Mboup noted the importance of local processing, stating that Senegalese cotton currently leaves the country without being fully utilized. He indicated that the revival of the factory could potentially generate more than 4,000 direct jobs.
