Senegal's MONCAP faction sees members expelled and former coordinator joins president's new party

Activist Khouraichi Thiam announced he was removed from several MONCAP WhatsApp groups after the recent ouster of Fatou Kiné Diakhaté from her role as coordinator of the movement. Thiam said the exclusion was ordered by former youth minister Khady Diène Gaye and noted he received no call, explanation or message before being barred.

Diakhaté later posted on Facebook, stating she no longer recognises the original PASTEF and accusing the party of abandoning patriotism for “messianism.” She declared her intention to join the forthcoming political party being formed by President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, framing the move as a continuation of her patriotic commitment to Senegal.

Both statements highlight growing internal tensions within MONCAP, the Patriotic Movement of National Cadres affiliated with PASTEF, and signal a potential realignment of supporters ahead of upcoming political contests in Senegal.
