Senthil Balaji questioned by DVAC in TASMAC liquor case

Former Tamil Nadu Minister Senthil Balaji appeared before the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) in Chennai for questioning regarding alleged irregularities in the state-run TASMAC liquor business. His appearance follows conditions set by the Supreme Court for his anticipatory bail, which required him to cooperate with investigators and appear in person when summoned.

The investigation stems from allegations involving irregularities in liquor transportation contracts and claims that an additional Rs 10 was collected on each bottle of liquor. Prior to this questioning, DVAC officials conducted searches at 41 locations across the state, including premises linked to Balaji, a former TASMAC managing director, and senior regional officials. Investigators reportedly seized documents deemed crucial to the probe.

While several individuals have already been arrested, one person identified as Rathesh (or Radesh) is currently absconding, prompting the issuance of a lookout notice. Officials are expected to question Balaji on over 100 points related to the case as they continue to examine seized evidence.
