Tamil Nadu TASMAC liquor fraud investigation

Overview

The Tamil Nadu Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) are investigating a multi-crore fraud involving the state-run liquor company, TASMAC (referred to in some reports as Dasmak). The investigation covers alleged irregularities in procurement, tender allocation, administrative actions, and liquor transportation contracts occurring between 2021 and 2025.

Authorities have conducted raids at dozens of locations across Tamil Nadu, seizing documents and electronic evidence. Several individuals have been arrested, though some suspects remain at large, prompting lookout notices.

Former minister Senthil Balaji has been a central figure in the probe. Following Supreme Court conditions for his pre-trial bail, which required him to cooperate with investigators, Balaji appeared before the DVAC for questioning regarding over 100 points related to the case.
